Well, nearly everything makes me think fiber, so spring really shouldn't be any different. BUT, spring on the farm means shearing is coming up fast! So, even though our temperatures have been hovering freakishly in the 80's, my thoughts have turned obsessively to fleeces, woolly things, more woolly things, and spinning, spinning, spinning! Many other farms, especially those making baby creatures, have sheared their flocks already. And, because I love you, I am gathering up as many of these lovely, local fibers that I can for sale at the shop. Here are two fantastic colors of Suri alpaca....
Suris are not the ordinary puff ball alpacas that everyone is used to. They have long, silky curls like mohair...but absolutely crazy soft. It makes a drapey, silky, fine yarn with a gorgeous halo. And, of course, it blends awesomely with wool.
Sort of an Alpaca/Bob Marley love child...
And look at this yearling Border Leicester. Long, lustrous and dreamy locks! I may dye a lot of this to make color bags of locks. If you are interested in just white, let me know right away.
Border Leicester sheep - they look straight out of "Babe" - Baa, Ram, Ewe,...to your flock be true!
Our flock is being sheared April 2nd. I will post pictures of the Wicked Woolies soon. If you would like a fleece, or portion of one, straight off their backs - I can reserve one for you!
